Thinking Outside of the Box with Your Garden Tools
It’s the time of year when gardeners are busily planting bulbs for next Spring’s show. Did you know that your bulb planting tool has another use?
These bulb planters are normally used to plant tulips, daffodils, and other Fall bulbs. But they can always be used to plant other small transplant vegetable and flower plants, as I have for years. You simply push the bulb planter into the soil to the depth needed, twist, and pull out with the soil plug inside.
Turn the bulb planter upside down and tap out the soil plug. The soil can then be used to fill in the soil around the sides of the transplant. No digging is required!
This technique is great for those who can’t use their legs to push in a shovel. If you garden with children, this tool is also something they can use easily.
Use your ingenuity to adapt tools to your body’s abilities!
