Featured Project:
The Garden at Hildegard House
Enjoyed by the residents of Hildegard House and their caregivers

a 12th century mystic, healer and spiritual healer

Location: Adam Street in Butchertown
Director: Karen Cassidy
A non-profit noted for compassionate care of those at the end of life who have no resources and no one to care for them.
Created in 2016 by a Master Gardener group led by MG June Sandercock
Located behind the house, it boasts over 100 perennials!

By 2022, a century old shade tree in the center garden was repurposed into a magnificent carved statue of Hildegard!

At the request of the Director, the shade loving plants were removed from the center garden and replanted in appropriate places. The focus of this center garden will now be healing, medicinal plants based on Hildegard’s research.
MG Maryellen Howley became project manager in 2022.
Used as a remedy to improve blood circulation
One of the best cures for bronchitis and other respiratory conditions
Sip tea with oregano to improve your sore throat
Both tea and essential oils are used for pain relief
One of the most useful plants with antibacterial properties. Its name is derived from the Latin for salvation.

A little end of year celebration for all of that hard work!
